New Year

The first data on the existence of years old in this country are from 1895, when an epidemic of yellow fever struck the Guayaquil.

As they drew up health measure bundles of straw and branches dresses with dead relatives, to burn them at the last day of the year and thus ward off the plague and despair. It represents the old and the beginning of the new, to leave the past and plan the future. This through dolls, known as old age or puppets made from sawdust. Each year it cries, widows and heirs accompany the old until the last minute, when you die, your solicitor read the will to deliver all the accumulated heritage during the year, by which lets goods, qualities, flaws and penalties, giving and to know what happened in the will, which is nothing but a critical evaluation of what lived with humor.

In different cities of Ecuador contests years old, many of which are traditional for more than 40 years ago are made. 5 years ago we see these large-scale puppets on the Malecon 2000 with legends and wills of the most outstanding events both nationally and internationally.

Another Country

Fin de año en Nueva YorkThe famous New York event in which a giant ball falls from the roof of One Times Square attracts thousands of people every year. When the ball drops at midnight, people explodes with joy. It seems an awesome experience on TV, but it's really not all that nice. For starters it is in winter, and very cold in New York. To be a good place people come 12 or 18 hours before the square. Imagine cold frostbite and unable to go to the bathroom all the time. Too sacrifice for an event that lasts 10 seconds. No after party (at 00:15 Times Square is empty, everyone is looking for a bathroom), no fireworks in the square and you can not drink alcohol in the street. So my advice is to avoid this ceremony.

A typical entry for a New Year's Eve in a bar or restaurant costs between 250 to 500 dollars. That is the price of the New Year's Eve Times Square Ball Drop Party too. Tickets sell out quickly despite being expensive.
